Youth Kitchen
itsu’s Youth Kitchen invests in nutrition education for children. We fund classes, fresh ingredients, and cooking equipment for students across the U.K. Our vision is for every child to leave school with the nutritional knowledge & practical skills needed to live a healthier life.
food groups & fresh veg
We visit Year 4 in their classrooms to discuss what healthier means. What are the different food groups? Where do veg come from? What do carrots do for us? Why do we need vitamins and minerals?
Each student is given a kitbag with the ingredients for the first recipe in their cookbooklet. Together we prep veg ready to take home: peel & grate carrots, rock chop herbs, use the bridge to slice red pepper, spiralise courgette.
super power soba noodles
Youth Kitchen sessions are led by our teacher trainer, supported by itsu team members. The 90 minute class concludes with the apron awards. No-one leaves empty handed as all students take home the ingredients for superpower soba noodles for 4. A special thank you to Reynolds for supplying the lovely local carrots and other fresh veg.
